Rhiannon One by M. Crenshaw

I really love this piece, although the digital image only hints at its depth. Everything emanates from that eye, drawing you in. The blue and black outline recedes but the lips reach out. Sexy and psychedelic, both.

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Holiday Open House on Saturday. Special thanks to Jessi Perren for organizing the event from start to finish and to Matthew Castellano for hanging the art. Also to Lilia Hernandez for hanging the small room, Jennifer Perren for tagging, the musicians and performers, and, of course, all the artists who contributed such fine work. You all rock.

Upcoming 360 Events

We have two events scheduled for the next few weeks. The first is a Holiday Art Show this Saturday put together by Jessi Perren and the second is our opening for ‘deviant.’ on December 2nd.

deviant. features works by Shane Baskins, M. Crenshaw, House of Avalon, Mark Monroe, Myriam Saavedra and Michael Shaeffer. The opening will be on Friday, Dec. 2 from 7 to 10 p.m. It will be up through the remainder of the year. More on that in the coming weeks.

The Holiday Art Show is one night only and features works by over forty artists as well as music, poetry and performance by CJ Boyd, Joel Richardson, Half Sestina 811, Dan Anderson & Janet. There is a suggested donation which I understand is mostly to pay CJ Boyd, who is on tour. If you can’t afford the donation, come anyway.  That’s Saturday, November 19 starting at 6 p.m.

Ear, Noise and Throat

Thanks to everyone who came to last week’s ‘Ear, Noise and Throat’ show at the gallery. We had fun soaking the musicians in film and liquid light. Pictured are Darsombra, who came from Baltimore armed with their own multi-media display.

'Stuff Index' by Brian Wolf Opens Saturday, August 27

‘Stuff Index,’ an exhibit showcasing new paintings by Brian Wolf, opens 6 pm Saturday at Gallery 360.
Brian creates comically bold and off kilter abstract paintings on canvas. His work is influenced by minimalist hard edge painting, abstract mid-century modernism, and the gaudy forms of the Memphis Group.

'Venado con flores' by Sabrina Zarco

We have a wonderful collection of Sabrina Zarco's art quilts and mixed media creations on display at the gallery. It's called "Chicana Goddess in the Bosque: Walking With the Ancestors" and it will be up through August 20th.

Sabrina has a lot of friends in Little Rock who came out to greet her last weekend and see what she's been so hard at work on getting ready for this show. You can see it all, too. We're open Mon - Fri, 10 til 4:30, Saturday 10 til 2, and after hours or Sunday by appointment.

Thanks to Sabrina and Liliana for driving all the way from New Mexico to deliver such beauty.

Wecome Sabrina Zarco: Saturday, July 16

As I write this, Sabrina Zarco is preparing to pack up all the art quilts and mixed media paintings she’s been hard at work on for the past few months. She will be driving from her home in Pecos, New Mexico, to Little Rock, Arkansas, and on Friday she will hang her new creations on our gallery walls. We invite you to welcome Sabrina back to Arkansas by attending her opening of Chicana Goddess in the Bosque on Saturday, July 16th at 7 PM.
It was four years ago I first met Sabrina. We were setting up our very first gallery show on the theme of Dia de los Muertos, the Day of the Dead. As the opening day approached, I was becoming increasingly concerned that 1.) we would not have enough art to fill the space, and 2.) what art we had was good, but it fell short on authenticity. Enter Sabrina. Her quilts were like honoring songs to her native Mexican family and community. They were about spirit and pride and justice and all that’s so full of life, death does not defeat. She constructed an altar and invited everyone to add a little something to it to honor those who had passed on. In short, Sabrina made our first show. We are so glad to have her back. (She informs us that, in light of the madness we’ve lately been experiencing, a community altar of healing may be constructed.)
Now, I messed up somewhat in scheduling the opening. I usually check to see what other art openings are happening that night and try to avoid having ours conflict with others. I forgot to do that this time and Lynn Frost informed me that Amy Eddington’s retrospective showing at Gallery 26 is happening the same night as Sabrina’s. Amy and Sabrina were friends and shared many friends between them, especially in the LGBT community, so I’d like to apologize to Lynn and Renee and everyone else for my double booking. I encourage folks to share rides in order to take in both these shows on Saturday night. If you can only attend one that night, make a point to see the other in the coming weeks, because both these women’s works are exceptional, full of joy and well worth seeing. And maybe even buying.

"Outsiders" opens tomorrow and it fills the gallery walls with every color imaginable. Come meet and support artists Anthony Lopez and Rachel Dziga, who have both been hard at work for the last few months painting up a storm. Rachel is preparing for her continued art education in Florence, Italy, so any sales she can pull off here will go toward paying her art related expenses.

The opening will be from 6 to 11 PM. This show will be up through July 8th.
